Firefly Metals is seeking a Geological Field Technician to support active mineral exploration programs in the Baie Verte region of Newfoundland and Labrador. This is a hands-on, outdoor-focused role involving prospecting, sampling, drill support, and core shack work. This role provides an opportunity to gain experience across multiple aspects of exploration including active mineral exploration programs. The successful candidate will play an important role in field execution, data collection, and maintaining safe and efficient exploration operations.
- Previous experience in mineral exploration or related field work
- Experience with prospecting, soil sampling, and field-based sampling programs
- Familiarity with diamond drilling operations and drill site protocols
- Comfortable working in outdoor, remote, and variable weather conditions
- Experience operating light trucks, ATVs, and snowmobiles; basic maintenance skills required
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to work on a 2-week on / 2-week off rotation
- Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental responsibilities
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual and outdoor work
- Detail-oriented and reliable in completing assigned tasks
- Able to follow direction while working effectively as part of a field team
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Support strong health, safety, and environmental performance at drill sites, core shacks, and field locations
- Conduct mineral prospecting, soil sampling, and rock sampling programs
- Assist with diamond drill support, including drill inspections and daily site checks
- Support core shack activities including core handling, cutting, sampling assistance, and housekeeping
- Assist geologists with drill core processing and technical support as required
- Maintain accurate field notes, sample records, and tracking logs
- Operate and perform basic maintenance on light trucks, ATVs, and snowmobiles
- Assist with environmental monitoring and site stewardship activities
- Work closely with geologists, drill crews, and other field personnel to support daily operations
