Kubota Materials Canada Corporation specializes in manufacturing high-performance alloys and friction materials from raw materials to finished products under one roof. Located in Orillia, Ontario, we lead the industry in quality, advanced technology, and on-time delivery.
In this role, you will be responsible for the safe set up and operation of all machines, machining static and petrochemical castings.
Following the completion of your training, you will be required to rotate shifts in accordance with our CBA.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine machining operation to be performed
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces
- Set-up, program and operate a variety of machine tools including CNC tools to perform precision operations such as beveling, milling, boring, turning and other operations
- Operate all machines including conventional machining lathes and mills to predetermined tolerances with minimum direction
- Verify dimensions of machined parts or tolling using micrometers, verniers, callipers or other specialized measuring instruments
- Ability to sharpen tooling as required to facilitate quality requirements
- Be proactive in the diagnosis and prevention of issues regarding both materials and equipment
- Maintain records with required information on operator work sheets by heat numbers
- Ensure work areas comply with proper housekeeping and safety procedures at all times
- Perform any other related duties
- Education: Minimum Grade 12 diploma required.
- Related Training Certificates including diplomas from accredited colleges and/or Certificate of Qualification considered an asset
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a Machining department within a Manufacturing environment is required.
- Certificate of Qualification in a recognized apprenticeship in the Machining Trade.
- Standing and walking for prolonged periods.
- Manual dexterity for handling small parts and tools.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle heavy equipment.
- Exposure to high temperatures, molten metal, and noise (PPE required).
- High concentration and focus required in both independent and team settings.
Following the completion of training, you will be required to rotate shifts every two weeks, moving between the day, afternoon, and overnight shifts in accordance with our collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
