Oversees the financial aspects of a company's fuel related accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance in fuel-related transactions and reporting. This includes responsible for fuel inventory accuracy, processing invoices, recognizing fuel incentives and rebates, reconciling related balance sheet accounts, and preparing financial reports.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Monitor and analyze accounting data to generate comprehensive financial reports, statements, and performance metrics.
- Review and analyze general ledger balances to ensure accuracy.
- Reconcile fuel related transaction accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Fuel Inventory Accounting:
- Review and reconcile fuel inventory across various locations.
- Lead the team in processing fuel deliveries, credit card transactions, and GL accounting tasks.
- Resolve transaction discrepancies through research and review of fuel deliveries and bills of ladings.
- Assist with AP vendor payments and billings questions.
- Fuel Incentives and Rebates:
- Review and interpret vendor and customer agreements to identify eligibility of incentives and rebates to receive from the various fuel brands and/or pay to customers
- Identify and calculate accruals for incentives and rebates each month
- Compliance and Regulatory:
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Collaborate with Tax Analyst to ensure proper customer/location tax set-up related to the purchase and sale of fuel processing in the system, such as state sales and use tax, motor vehicle taxes, and federal excise tax rules.
- Provide fuel transaction research and support for the preparation of tax returns.
- Team Management and Partnership:
- Lead and mentor fuel billing specialists.
- Work with Wholesale and Retail teams, and other departments, to ensure accurate and efficient fuel data processes.
- Other Duties:
- Identify and implement process improvements in fuel accounting.
- Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting field.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and compliance standards.
- Experience in fuel accounting is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in accounting software and systems, with emphasis on PDI Enterprise
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
