Scheduled Shift: 3 pm-11 pm, Monday-Friday (overtime as needed)
Training Shift: 7 am-3 pm, Monday-Friday for up to 2 weeks
The Utility Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts and overhead cranes to move, load, and unload materials. This role also prepares containers for shipment, receives incoming goods, operates the chopper, and maintains a clean and organized work environment.
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to safely move raw materials, components, and finished goods.
- Load and unload trucks with incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Receive and inspect materials upon delivery to ensure accuracy and condition; report discrepancies or damage.
- Transport materials to different locations within the facility.
- Package finished tubes in appropriate shipping containers per customer specifications.
- Replace boxes on production lines and properly pack using cardboard and plastic liners.
- Verify shipping documents such as packing slips, Bills of Lading, and purchase orders.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper labeling, storage, and handling.
- Handle scrap material and complete scrap tickets accurately.
- Operate the chopper in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Proficient in operating forklifts, cranes, and material handling equipment.
- Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of standard shipping and receiving procedures.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Effective team player with good communication skills.
- Ability to identify and communicate discrepancies or issues with shipments or inventory.
- Willingness to learn, follow directions, and adapt to changing priorities.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1+ years of experience in a warehouse, shipping/receiving, or manufacturing environment preferred.- Experience operating a forklift or overhead crane preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted; use lifting aids for heavier loads.
- Prolonged standing and walking on concrete floors.
- Frequent bending, squatting, and reaching overhead.
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, forklifts, and moving machinery.
- Work may be performed in non-climate-controlled areas.
- Required to wear PPE, including safety glasses, steel or composite-toed shoes, hearing protection, gloves, and a bump cap.
