A Forestry Team Member will work in the field and wooded areas to remove various types of invasive species. The hours of operation will typically be Monday thru Friday, from 6:30am to 4:30pm weather permitting, with occasional weekends. Applicants are required to always wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). The minimum PPE required is, a long sleeve shirt, jeans or pants covering the entire leg, steel or composite toed boots, eye protection, ear protection, and gloves. Must also be able to work unassisted/alone at times.
It is required that the applicant be able to work in harsh outdoor conditions and habitats. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older, have a valid drivers license, and a clear background check.
- Assisting with the implementation of invasive species removal, mapping, and coordinating with state and local governments.
- Application and documentation of herbicides that were applied.
- Inventory and ordering of supplies needed for daily usage.
- Tree planting for overall reforestation.
- Conduct traffic control including but not limited to set ups and tear downs of all proper signage.
- Weed and brush control (use of trimmers, brush-hogs, machetes, & chainsaws)
- Endless other labor-intensive tasks that must be completed with-in strict deadlines.
- Must maintain interior & exterior cleanliness of trucks, trailers, and other GSL equipment.
- Equipment must be fueled, greased, sharpened, and all tracks cleaned daily.
- Completing Pre-trip inspections prior to use.
- Washing, vacuuming, sweeping, and various other cleaning of all equipment completed as needed.
- Wearing of company uniforms (once provided) and all other PPE is mandatory.
- Must be able to pass various safety training classes.
- Must be willing to assist wherever and whenever needed.
- Must be able to drive a company vehicle and comply with all DOT requirements.
- Must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing.
