Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fleet Manager/Mechanic to join our company. In this role, you will oversee and maintain a diverse fleet, including vacuum trucks, roll-off trucks, tractors, pickup trucks, trailers, and various other equipment. Your responsibilities will include managing fleet operations, ensuring timely maintenance and repairs, coordinating vehicle inspections, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical expertise, experience with heavy-duty vehicles, and excellent organizational skills to keep our operations running smoothly and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vacuum trucks, roll-off trucks, tractors, pickup trucks, trailers, and other equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of the fleet.
- Coordinate and conduct vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
- Manage inventory of parts, tools, and supplies needed for fleet maintenance and repairs.
- Oversee fleet operations, including scheduling vehicle assignments and tracking usage to optimize efficiency.
- Diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot equipment failures, and implement effective solutions promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections for all fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Collaborate with drivers and operations staff to address equipment concerns and ensure safe operation of the fleet.
- Ensure adherence to environmental and safety regulations, particularly for water transfer operations.
- Train and guide staff on proper vehicle operation and basic maintenance procedures as needed.
- Mechanical Expertise: Proficient in diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Fleet Management: Strong organizational skills to manage fleet operations, scheduling, and maintenance tracking for a diverse range of vehicles and equipment.
- Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of DOT regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements related to water transfer and fleet operations.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and implement effective solutions under time constraints.
- Inventory Management: Experience in managing parts and supplies inventory to ensure availability for repairs and maintenance.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with drivers, staff, and vendors effectively.
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with fleet management software, maintenance tracking systems, and basic office tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities to minimize fleet downtime.
