Position Summary:

The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for the complete installation, testing, and commissioning of fire alarm and life safety systems on a new commercial construction project. The technician will work from blueprints and specifications to install all components, ensuring the system meets all local, state, and national fire codes. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality. A private security license is considered a plus.


Key Responsibilities:

- Install fire alarm devices, including but not limited to, fire alarm control panels, smoke and heat detectors, pull stations, horns, strobes, and tamper switches.

- Pull, terminate, and test various types of fire alarm cable, including FPLP, and other low-voltage wiring. Ensure all wiring is neatly dressed, labeled, and conforms to code.

- Install EMT and other types of conduit, junction boxes, and back boxes for fire alarm system components according to project specifications and code.

- Assist with the programming of fire alarm control panels and annunciators. Perform system testing and commissioning to ensure all devices are communicating correctly and the system functions as designed.

- Diagnose and resolve technical issues during all phases of installation and commissioning. Use multimeters and other diagnostic tools to identify and repair faulty wiring, devices, or system components.


Qualifications:

- A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the installation of commercial fire alarm systems.

- Strong knowledge of low voltage systems, including security, fire alarm, and audio-visual systems

- Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams

- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

- Excellent communication and customer service skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation


Physical Demands:

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.

Pay: $26.00 - $33.00 per hour
