As a Finishing & Shipping Manager, you will be joining a dynamic team at a growing manufacturing company as one of the most critical production roles in our business. You will be responsible for overseeing all operations within the finishing department, as well as managing shipping and receiving functions. This is a hands-on, fast paced shop floor position that has a lot of variety day-to-day. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee daily production operations within the finishing department, including CNC machining, blasting, sanding, deburring, grinding, drilling, milling, gauging, and final inspection and packaging of castings, while ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to safety standards
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate workflows across finishing, inspection, and shipping/receiving functions to meet production and delivery targets
- Hire, train, and supervise team members, ensuring performance and productivity standards are met
- Coordinate shipping logistics, including scheduling shipments and communicating with third-party carriers
- Manage shipping and receiving operations, including shipment planning, order fulfillment, and documentation
- Maintain and control inventory across warehouse and shipping functions, including conducting physical inventory counts
- Ensure quality standards are met for all outgoing products in collaboration with the Quality Department
- Provide support and backup for shipping clerk responsibilities, including coverage during PTO
- Assist with part inspections, dock audits, and other quality-related activities as needed
- Assist shipping clerk with loading and unloading trucks, and receiving and verifying incoming shipments
- Maintain adequate inventory of shipping materials and coordinate orders as required
- Occasionally operate company vehicles for deliveries and pickups
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Quality concerning customer part quality and final inspection requirements
- Lead and support employees across the Finishing and Shipping/Receiving departments, fostering teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence
A successful candidate will have prior manufacturing experience in a factory environment, with machining and secondary operations required; die casting or other foundry experience is a plus. This role involves standing for extended periods, lifting materials, and working in varying temperatures within a machine shop and foundry setting. Strong attention to quality and strict adherence to work instructions are essential. The candidate should be a self-starter with good organizational and time management skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work cooperatively with team members. A valid Wisconsin driver’s license is required, along with a positive attitude and a demonstrated commitment to regular, punctual attendance. Safety is our #1 priority.
