Wood is recruiting for a Financial Modeler to join its Minerals and Metals business focusing on large mining projects.
The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Modeler to join our Minerals and Metals (M&M) Project Development team. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in economic evaluations, financial modeling, and cost estimation within the mining industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting feasibility and pre-feasibility studies, tradeoff analyses, and strategic decision-making for mining projects globally.

•Develop, update, and maintain complex financial models for mining and mineral processing projects.
•Conduct economic evaluations, including NPV, IRR, payback period, and sensitivity analyses.
•Apply Monte Carlo simulations and other probabilistic methods to assess project risk and uncertainty.
•Prepare and review capital and operating cost estimates in alignment with industry standards.
•Lead and contribute to tradeoff studies and scenario analyses to optimize project value.
•Author economic sections of NI 43-101 technical reports, including Preliminary Economic Assessments (PEAs), Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS), and Feasibility Studies (FS).
•Provide due diligence support for mergers, acquisitions, and investment decisions.
•Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geologists, metallurgists, and engineers.
•Support process improvement initiatives and cost management strategies for client operations.

Expected:
•Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering, mining engineering, finance, or related field; Advanced degree in business or similar, and project management is a plus.
•Minimum 10 years of experience in financial modeling and economic evaluation in the mining sector.
•S-K 1300 and NI 43-101 Qualified Person (QP) designation.
•Proven experience with gold, copper, nickel, iron, and PGM projects in North and South America.
•Proficiency in Excel-based financial modeling; experience with specialized mining software is an asset.
•Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
•Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Desirable
•Experience managing feasibility and pre-feasibility studies for major mining projects.
•Familiarity with international mining standards and reporting codes.
•Background in operations or plant management is a strong asset.
