OVERVIEW:
Aramco Trading Americas (ATA) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Controller to support its ongoing finance transformation and integration efforts. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and compliance of ATA’s financial reporting and internal control environment. The Assistant Controller will lead the preparation of IFRS financial statements, oversee internal control programs, and support integration and alignment initiatives across the organization.
This position will report directly to the Regional Finance Director and will manage a team responsible for financial reporting and internal controls. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a hands-on leader, and a collaborative partner who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
•Lead the preparation and review of ATA’s quarterly and annual IFRS financial statements and disclosures for both Group and Standalone reporting.
•Oversee the internal control compliance program, including design, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of controls in alignment with ATC policies.
•Coordinate with external auditors (PwC) to manage quarterly reviews and annual audits, ensuring alignment on accounting treatments and disclosures.
•Manage affiliate transaction reconciliations to support consolidation and elimination processes for Motiva and ATC entities.
•Deliver timely and accurate financial data and analysis, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reporting.
•Support monthly close processes and prepare quarterly management review materials.
•Provide technical accounting guidance for new transactions and assess the impact of new IFRS pronouncements.
•Lead accounting and reporting integration for M&A activities, including system and process alignment.
•Serve as the key liaison for ATC Group reporting, addressing inquiries related to financial results, accounting treatments, and ad-hoc requests (e.g., IPO readiness, affiliate debt issuance).
•Ensure accurate accounting of HR payroll and benefits, coordinating closely with HR and Finance.
•Manage IFRS 16 lease accounting, including journal entries and disclosures.
•Provide Technical Accounting analytical and technical support to staff and management to resolve complex Trading & Commodity accounting issues
•Review new contracts and advise/document proper accounting treatment
•Collaborate with IT on finance system improvements and integration projects.
•Supervise and mentor a small team of staff or contractors.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
•Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
•Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a commodities trading environment and/or oil & gas industry
•Strong understanding of commodities trading and risk management accounting.
•Experience with IFRS reporting, internal controls, and audit coordination.
•Proficiency in SAP, RightAngle, and Microsoft Office Suite.
•Must be able to work on-site in Houston, TX.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Strong knowlege on IFRS standards/guidance impacting commodities trading deal flow (IAS 2, IFRS 9, IFRS 15, IFRS 16).
