Job Description: The Controller will be responsible for overseeing and analyzing all aspects of the Company’s financial accounts. Complete senior level accounting tasks, adhering to tight deadlines. Experienced leader and team player who will build positive relationships with our team members.
· Guides financial decisions by developing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
· Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
· Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors.
· Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances.
· Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
· Compiling weekly project costings (including equipment costs) for approval
· Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
· Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
· Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
· Provides company with best price/value for Insurance and Bonding
· Accounts receivable – invoicing and collection of outstanding receivables
· Accounts payable – review payments for processing
· Ensures all month end reports are completed by the 13th of the following month
· Ensure all remittances are filed on time
· Ensure that we have proper credit limits in place for our customers
· Maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems.
· Ability to assess and make strategic recommendations for both current and future finance funding streams to include: filing applications with ACOA, BDC, NSBI, and other lending providers
· Managing Processes, Developing Standards, Audit, Accounting, Corporate Finance, Tracking Budget Expenses, Analyzing Information, Developing Budgets, Performance Management
· Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field
· Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
· Strong understanding of economic and banking processes
· Proven knowledge and expert use of Intacct (an asset) Financial Software, MS Excel, MS Office components
· Working knowledge of both Canadian and American tax compliance regulations and reporting
· 7+ years experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
· Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis
