Universal Metal Products, Inc. specializes in custom metal forming, serving customers globally in the appliance, transportation, and industrial markets for over 75 years. We are strategically located in three US locations with over 100 forming machines. We provide tooling design, value-added assembly, heat treat and finishing operations.
We have an immediate need for a Finance Director to join our corporate team in Wickliffe, Ohio to oversee financial budgeting, and forecasting as well as managing financial audits and compliance with regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (others may be assigned):
•Act as a strategic business partner to senior executive leadership team.
•Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization relating to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts; Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plan of organization
•Prepare and present monthly financial budget reports including monthly profit and loss by division, forecast vs. budget by division and cash flow
•Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations
•Develop and maintain the monthly operating budget and annual company operating budget
•Manage financial planning and forecasting process
•Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases and financial software. Provide regular maintenance and backup of all accounting systems and supervise company financial staff
•Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements
•Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns
•Work with Human Resources to ensure appropriate legal compliance
•Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies
•Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts and overhead cost allocation
•Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems
•Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits
•Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability
•Oversee cash investments
•Maintain outstanding banking relationships
QUALIFICATIONS

•At least 14+ years total accounting or finance experience
•Outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP, IFRS
•Extensive computer experience required, including Microsoft 360 products (Power BI, Word, Outlook, Excel and Copilot) HRIS, ERP/MRP systems
•Knowledge of Free Trade Zones desired
•Experience coordinating with I.T. staff to manage and/or upgrade the accounting system. Systems implementation experience is strongly preferred.
•Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
•Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence
•Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
•Significant experience working with privately held manufacturing companies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance
SPECIFIC SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS
•Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form required. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
•Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor, management and fellow employees.
•Extensive computer experience required (Word Processing, spreadsheet, HRIS, ERP/MRP systems, etc.)
•Ability to work well under pressure of deadlines and manage and complete multiple tasks
•Must have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
