Why This Role Matters: This is a senior-level finance position based in Norwalk, CT. The mission of this role is to lead and manage all of the company's financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, accounting, and management, with 10+ years of relevant experience. This role will be responsible for driving financial strategy and planning, overseeing and guiding long-term forecasting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is positioned for growth in alignment with the organization’s gradual expansion.
The proposed annual salary range for this position is $147,000 - $160,000 based on a 40-hour work schedule. The final salary may vary depending on confirmed job-related skills and experience.
Onboarding Expectation: The anticipated start date is set for the Fall of 2025. There will be a comprehensive two-to-three-month onboarding and transition period that will take place in our Norwalk CT office in collaboration with our remote accounting team. Financial Strategy & Analysis:
•Develop and implement financial strategies to support business objectives and growth.
•Partner with senior leadership to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
•Review monthly financial reports before distribution to the CEO and other stakeholders.
•Perform monthly cash flow analysis and semi-monthly expenditures reporting.
•Review monthly financial reports before distribution to the CEO, etc.
•Conduct detailed analysis of year-end project closings.
•Support proposal development with setting custom rates, when applicable.
Accounting Operations & Compliance:
•Oversee all internal accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end/year-end close processes.
•Establish and maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
•Serve as primary liaison with external accounting firms in the U.S. and Canada, ensuring timely completion of annual tax returns, financial statements, and audits.
•Collaborate with accounting partners and 401(k) providers on the annual audit, Form 5500 submission, and year-end compliance, including the “true-up” process.
•Maintain fixed asset records, including acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation calculations.
•Oversee the Accounting Team’s monthly invoicing and collection activities.

•Conduct detailed analysis of year-end project closings.
Team Leadership & Development:
•Manage and develop the accounting team, providing leadership, coaching, and performance feedback.
•Support Accounting Team members in resolving complex issues and implementing best practices.
•Provide guidance and training to Project Managers on interpreting financial reports and financial decision-making.
Banking Management:
•Monitor cash positions and bank activity to ensure adequate liquidity for operations, proactively identifying potential shortfalls or excesses.
•Manage the company’s line of credit, including tracking availability, negotiating terms, and ensuring compliance with lending covenants or reporting requirements.
•Serve as the primary liaison with banking institutions, maintaining strong relationships, resolving issues, and renegotiating terms or services to optimize cost and service levels.
•Implement and maintain internal cash controls, including segregation of duties, approval workflows, and fraud prevention measures to safeguard financial assets.
•Identify and lead improvements to cash flow processes, recommending efficiencies in banking services, payment methods, and reconciliation procedures.
Systems & Technology Integration:
•Work with external Accounting System Tech support and our IT and CRM team to integrate business needs and reports into our processes.
•Oversee accounting software reporting to ensure compatibility with GAAP and government contract requirements.
•Continuously evaluate and improve accounting systems, processes, and technologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Shareholder Relations & Equity Compliance:
•Manage shareholder purchases, redemptions and current holdings in cap table platform.
•Summarize financial status at Shareholder meetings and quarterly reports.
•Determine annual fair value calculation of shares based on financial statements. Maintain shareholder personal loan schedules with year-end updates.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s or associate degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
•Minimum 10 years of overall experience in financial management, including 7+ years of financial and operations management experience.
•Proven experience working with a company of 50+ employees.
•Proven experience leading and managing a team.
•Experience in financial modeling, budgeting, reporting, and analysis.
•Strong understanding of corporate finance, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.
•Proven track record in financial strategy development and business growth.
•Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•Experience working with outside accountants.
•Capability to analyze financial data and provide strategic insights to inform business decisions.
•Ability to prioritize effectively and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
•Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
Preferred Knowledge:
•Experience in AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) industry is a plus.
Preferred Technical Skills:
•Technology proficiency with experience selecting and overseeing software implementations/migrations.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel to other offices in CT, NYC, Washington, D.C. and MA may occasionally be required but will not be frequent.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: SWA has a hybrid work environment. The expectation is for an in-office presence full time for the full onboarding and transition; this period is anticipated to be at least 3-6 months. Work arrangements after this is to be coordinated with the CEO.
