The Field & Technical Services Lead supports the CEO in daily field operations and technical service activities across two civil engineering companies. This role is hands-on and field-based, requiring active participation in sewer sanitation work, equipment operation, diagnostics, and minor repairs.
The position is designed for an individual with a foundational background in sewer sanitation, utilities, or automotive repair who is ready to step into a leadership development role. The selected candidate will initially work closely with the CEO and gradually assume greater responsibility for routine field and technical tasks as capability and trust are demonstrated.
- Reports directly to the CEO
- Supports daily field and technical execution under CEO oversight
- Gradually assumes responsibility for routine field activities
- Does not replace the Director of Operations or Operations Manager
- Perform hands-on sewer sanitation and field service work
- Operate, maintain, and assist in troubleshooting inspection and service equipment
- Conduct minor mechanical repairs and routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment
- Assist with job-site setup, tear-down, and logistical coordination
- Follow established safety, quality, and technical standards
- Shadow the CEO to learn field leadership, technical standards, and decision-making
- Take ownership of assigned field tasks and daily responsibilities
- Support the transition of routine field duties away from the CEO over time
- Identify equipment or process issues and propose practical solutions
- Apply critical thinking to resolve day-to-day field challenges
- Invest time in learning company systems, equipment, and industry best practices
- Maintain a positive, no-excuse attitude and take pride in quality workmanship
- Represent the company professionally with clients and team members
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and accountability
- Background in sewer sanitation, utilities, pipeline inspection, or related field, OR
- Background in automotive repair, diesel mechanics, or mechanical service
- Comfort using hand and power tools
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform hands-on repairs
- Strong work ethic with a growth mindset
- Reliable transportation
- Experience with CCTV inspection equipment or vacuum/jetting systems
- Prior exposure to field leadership or crew coordination
- Familiarity with safety protocols in utility or mechanical environments
