:
The Field Safety Specialist will report directly to the Director of Safety while working with the Risk/Safety Manager and be responsible for continuously educating and ensuring that safe operations are paramount throughout the organization. You will work with the Risk/Safety Manager to help design and drive processes to ensure growth can be accomplished without sacrificing safety and quality.

Inspect equipment, tools, and working conditions to ensure the safety of workers engaged in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground power lines. Inspect fall protection, ladders, ropes, rubber goods, and tools and replace those not meeting industry standards.

Conduct thorough inspections of construction areas. Assist in identifying, documenting, and recommending mitigation of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions; follow through to ensure corrections have been made.

Observe crews at work and report deficiencies and positive behavior in safety performance.
Lead safety training for field personnel.

Investigate and document all forms of incidents (vehicular, property damage, work procedure errors) and devise preventive measures.

Ensure crews are equipped with proper safety equipment and PPE, both physical and educational.
·
Work within and support a collaborative team environment that supports field and project management operations to maintain the organization’s values and goals.
·
Industrial Safety Degree or 2+ years’ experience working in the utility industry, able to obtain the CHST and/or CUSP within 12 months.·
Experience in high voltage electrical work, distribution electric construction, and other utilities is a plus.

Knowledge in applicable ANSI, EPA, OSHA Standards 29 CFR 1910 & 29 CFR 1926, Cal OSHA standards, NFPA 70E, and other applicable standards.

Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
·
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule.

Knowledge and skills in the use of various Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
·
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and contribute to a team-oriented work environment.
·
Background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug test required.
