Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):
assess hazard voltages appearing on publicly accessible surfaces
Operating GPS mapping and tracking system, specifically adapted to contact voltage survey;
Developing route plan based on the arrangement of overhead and underground utility
distribution facilities within targeted geographic region
Conducting the contact voltage survey depends upon accurate measurements
Ensuring the rout plan is entered into the track mounted GPS system for guidance during the
actual survey activity;
Reading and interpreting utility supplied schematics of distribution equipment and developing
appropriate survey route overlays
Recognizing deviation of the sensor response from normal operation conditions
Interpreting against the observations of the layout of the electrical distribution equipment as
well as the motion of the vehicle carrying the operators and equipment
Locating the exact source stimulus triggering the sensor system and signaled a potential
contact voltage hazard, and execute a field investigation procedure
Making accurate measurements and communicate results to utility repair crews
