This position will provide general labor resource support to various departments and work areas across the company to include Maintenance/Distribution Operations, Metering Services, Grounds Maintenance, Water Quality, and Production Operations. Individuals in this position is trained to perform a variety of tasks/duties and required to complete assignments that include but is not limited to the following:
Performing assignments on residential, commercial, and public properties.
Excavating, inspecting, flushing, cleaning, and repairing water lines/mains.
Repairing and replacing fire hydrants, meter vaults, water distribution lines and water valves.
Installing new utility services by making taps for new water services.
Locating a variety of aboveground and underground water company infrastructure.
Installing, repairing, and replacing meter stops, utility holes, valves, meters, and exercise valves at scheduled times.
Performing property restoration that includes concrete, asphalt, sidewalk landscaping.
Reading water meter routes in an approved fashion.
Responding to Louisville Water overtime needs as prescribed by contract and work area guidelines.
Must be able to work varying schedules including all nontraditional work shifts.
Works daily in an outside environment with exposure to a variety of extreme weather conditions.
Works daily in an environment that includes vehicle, equipment, and pedestrian traffic.
Works daily in cramped/confined areas utilizing tools and equipment.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have two (2) years of general labor experience in utilities, construction, warehousing, maintenance, metering, heavy equipment, etc.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with good driving record.
Must obtain a Kentucky or Indiana Class A Commercial Driver’s license within six (6) months of hire.
Must successfully complete any/all Company assigned training/testing requirements within twelve (12) months of hire.
Must successfully complete any/all preemployment drug and alcohol testing requirements.
Must have the ability to carry up to fifty (50) pounds for one hundred (100) feet.
Must have the ability to lift seventy-five (75) pounds for twenty-five (25) feet.
Must have the ability to remove vault lids to access underground facilities weighing up to two hundred (200) pounds.
Must have the ability to walk long distances on uneven surfaces.
Must have the ability to make precise arm-hand movements applicable to all tools and equipment required for the position.
Must have the ability to climb ladders (heights of up to forty (40) feet) and steps.
