Job Summary
Provide service and support to internal and external customers, contractors and attorneys across the NiSource states to bill and recover damages to assets on behalf of the states. Routinely run reports in the Damage Prevention Tracking System (DPTS), relevant to internal and external inquiry. Report and analysis trends, exceptions and opportunities as it relates to improvement within Pipeline Safety and Compliance. The incumbent must be creative and use knowledge and skills on each individual damage case, applying appropriate analysis, evaluation and investigation. Must be detail oriented and able to accurately capture financial data and perform follow up on unpaid facility damage claims.
Essential Functions•Ensures prompt, accurate and consistent invoicing, reconciliation and recovery of facility damages.
•Processes Miscellaneous Revenue Accounting (MRA) adjustments, execute requests cash transfers, and remit journal vouchers (C-690 forms).
•Utilize WMS, MRA, DIS and DPTS billing, information, tracking software systems.
•Inbound and outbound communications related to facility damage billing, collections, and reporting.
•Refers damage claims to external collection agencies and attorneys.
•Helps identify and develop continuous improvement opportunities.
•Issues cycle of 60-day letter correspondence regarding billing invoices, payment, demand letters and additional third-party inquiries.
•Interacts with Contract locators, Billing Exceptions, Payment Operations, Revenue Recovery, Hotline and Distribution Operations personnel.
•Partners with Engineering Services relevant to gas loss and legal discovery validation.
•Improves communications, safety and damage prevention with internal and external stake holders utilizing the Damage Prevention Tracking System's Data Repository.
•Increases revenue of facility damages collections, and miscellaneous receivables, and net back from outside collection agencies and attorneys.
•Meets or exceeds key metric results as measured by the facility damage scorecards.
•Has basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through training and work experience
•Ensures prompt, accurate and consistent invoicing, reconciliation and recovery of facility damages
•Uses existing procedures to complete and bill and recovery routine or standard damage bills
•Work is closely to moderately supervised, and is routine or follows standard procedures and process
•Completes Indiana IURC damage reporting
•Utilize WMS, MRA, DIS and DPTS billing, information, tracking software systems.
Required Qualifications For Position
•High School Diploma or equivalent
•0-2 years of experience or career equivalent in natural gas distribution operations, billing and collections
•Microsoft Office experience
•Strong oral and written communication with interpersonal skills as demonstrated by successful interactions with others where tact and diplomacy are needed.
•Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
•Proficiency in use of personal computers and Windows based software.
•Demonstrated analytical skills.
•Proven ability to function in an environment with ever changing priorities.
•Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
•Demonstrated knowledge of billing/information systems; DIS, MRA, WMS and DPTS.
•Knowledge of state policies and procedures. .
•Basic knowledge of underground construction and utility line locating processes.
•Basic knowledge of state and federal requirements for facility locating.
•Working knowledge of mainframe Operations and Billing support systems, i.e. WMS, DIS, and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
•Associate's Degree from an accredited college.

Salary Range*:
$45,500.00 - $63,800.00
The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.*
