Position Summary
The Facilities Support Technician at Mustang Special Utility District is responsible for performing various maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the optimal functionality and safety of the district’s facilities and equipment. This role involves conducting routine inspections, addressing repair needs, and supporting facility improvement projects. The Facilities Support Technician plays a crucial part in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment, directly contributing to the district's overall operational effectiveness.
Essential Functions:
•General Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work, to ensure facilities are safe and operational.
•Inspection and Troubleshooting: Regularly inspect facilities and equipment to identify issues and promptly perform necessary repairs. Utilize diagnostic tools to troubleshoot problems.
•Preventative Maintenance: Implement preventative maintenance schedules for all building systems and equipment to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of assets.
•Ground Maintenance: Perform ground maintenance such as mowing, weed-eating, edging, blowing, pruning, planting, trimming, and sodding as needed.
•Debris Removal: Clean, clear, and dispose of debris and refuse in trash bins and in the landscape from all properties.
•Equipment Handling: Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment either manually or by using hand trucks or forklifts.
•Painting: Paint the interior and exterior of buildings as needed.
•Minor Plumbing: Perform minor plumbing work as needed.
•Facility Improvements: Assist in facility improvement projects, such as remodeling, upgrades, and new installations. Provided technical support and ensured projects were completed on time and within budget.
•Coordination with Contractors: Work with and escort qualified contractors on or within the facilities. Ensure all work complies with safety and quality standards.
•Safety Protocols: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries. Participate in safety training and meetings.
•Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
•Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs. Prepare reports on facilities and maintenance activities.
Qualifications
Education:
•Required: A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
•Preferred: Completion of a vocational or technical training program in facility maintenance or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
•Required: A minimum understanding of hand and power tools.
•Preferred: At least 2-3 years of extensive experience in facility maintenance, particularly in a utility or public service environment.

•Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.

Conditions Of Employment:
•Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License before employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license within 30 days of hire per state law).
