- Operate tractors, mowers, and other equipment to cut and maintain ski runs and surrounding terrain.
- Perform regular hill maintenance, including brush cutting, trimming, and clearing debris to keep runs safe and accessible.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain snowmaking equipment such as snow guns, hydrants, valves, and piping systems.
- Assist with digging, exposing, and repairing buried snowmaking infrastructure as required.
- Conduct annual hose testing to ensure all hoses meet high-pressure safety and operational standards.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on snowmaking and mechanical equipment.
- Support installation, relocation, and off-season storage of snowmaking equipment.
- Operate skid steers, tractors, and utility vehicles to transport materials and assist with site work.
- Assist with general site maintenance, including ski runs, drainage, and operational areas.
- Identify and report equipment issues, hazards, and maintenance needs.
- Maintain records of maintenance work, inspections, and hose testing.
- Support trail building, trail maintenance, and other recreation projects as required.
- Follow all safety procedures, including PPE use and safe equipment operation.
- Assist with seasonal preparation for winter operations.
- Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.
- Other duties as assigned
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in outdoor operations
- Minimum 2 years’ experience operating heavy equipment is required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience operating utility and off-road vehicles (snowmobile, ATV, gator) is required
- High level of competence with software-based solutions across multiple operating systems: MS Office, Edge Auditor, Dayforce, ISNO, weather stations
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, ability to make decisions and action accordingly
- Skiing and snowboarding experience is considered an asset
- Previous supervisory experience is considered an asset
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, on varied terrain.
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class “G”, with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract is required. Abstract completed by Conservation Halton*. - Successful candidates must provide own CSA approved safety footwear prior to first day of employment Partial reimbursement provided in accordance with the Safety Workwear policy.* - Successful candidates must provide own safety approved helmet prior to first day of employment. Partial reimbursement provided in accordance with the Safety Workwear policy.*- Successful candidates will be required to have Standard First Aid and CPR certification prior to first day of employment
- CH parks are not accessible by public transit; candidates should ensure they have reliable transportation.
- Starting at $27.56 per hour
- Part time and full-time hours available; hours may vary depending on availability.
- Typical working hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, for approximately 35 hours per week.
- Working hours will vary (daytime and evening shifts) and will include weekends and holidays.
- This position’s expected start date is May 18, 2026
