Job Description:
The engineering technician will coordinate and work with engineers to develop and evaluate new calibrations for natural gas engines. The testing may occur with the engine installed in either a dyno test cell or within a generator and utilizing a load bank. The engineering technician will be responsible for maintaining the test environment, instrumenting the engine for temperatures, pressures, and other measurements, maintaining calibration of test equipment, and helping to ensure the data collected is of high quality. The engineering technician will be responsible for installing new test articles on engines and ensuring the engine and test cell are operating properly. Will be involved with troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical issues in the test cell and engine systems.
Essential Duties:
•Responsible for test cell operations and maintenance.
•Responsible for all the Load Bank maintenance and repairs.
•Assists and participates in routine inspections and maintenance of shop equipment.
•Performs or installs modifications to natural gas engines and generators.
•Makes electrical and mechanical wiring modifications to control circuits.
•Maintains a safe, clean and effective working environment.
•Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in the test cell and engine systems.
•Ensure data collected meets quality standards and is reliable for analysis.
•Instrument engines for measuring temperatures, pressures, and other key parameters.
•Adhere to company and industry safety regulations in all testing procedures.
•Performs all duties as assigned.
Education:
Required:
•High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
•Associates in a related field
Experience:
Required:
•At least 1 year of related experience
Preferred:
•2+ years as a shop technician, preferably working at Mesa
•Related experience in engine prototyping and/or power generation
•Honorably discharged service veterans.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
•Experience operating and maintaining industrial engines with good mechanical aptitude
•Basic understanding and knowledge of hand tools and measuring equipment
•Understanding of all Mesa operating systems
•Understanding of DeepSea configurations
•Able to work independently and ensure tasks are completed with little supervision
•Ability to work under stress in high pressure situations
•Able to handle frequent interruptions and handle conflict in an effective manner
•Possess the ability to be a team player
•Adaptability and ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
•Possess a positive and energetic self-starter attitude, with excellent drive, ambition and work ethic
•Ability to communicate ideas effectively and maintain deadlines
