REPORTS TO: Instrumentation Coordinator
What You’ll Be Doing:
•Design and develop PLC programs for industrial automation systems, including control logic, HMI interfaces, databases, and communication protocols.
•Collaborate closely with facilities engineers and operations teams to translate system requirements into effective automation solutions that support production goals.
•Document thoroughly—maintain detailed records of program design, testing, and implementation, including shutdown keys, P&IDs, electrical schematics, control philosophies, and alarm management.
•Drive innovation by identifying opportunities for system enhancements and working with programmers, vendors, and engineers to implement improvements.
•Stay ahead of the curve by keeping up with emerging technologies and integrating relevant advancements into our systems.
•Participate actively in HAZOP and shutdown key review meetings to ensure safety and operational integrity.
•Support measurement accuracy by assisting engineering teams in tracking and trending gas and oil sales data.
•Improve operations by recommending process optimizations, implementing changes, and contributing insights to cross-functional teams.
•Provide leadership in automation control standards and best practices.
•Champion safety by adhering to all safety protocols and promoting a culture of safe work practices.
What You Bring:
•5+ years of hands-on experience in PLC programming within an industrial automation environment.
•Strong command of Ladder Logic and Function Block programming; bonus points for experience with Python, VB, Java, or HTML.
•Proficiency in HMI platforms such as FactoryTalk and Ignition.
•Solid experience with database systems and related programming.
•Skilled in OPC technologies and integration.
•Working knowledge of VFDs and their control wiring configurations.
•Familiarity with industrial communication protocols like TCP/IP, ControlNet, and Modbus.
•Experience with industrial radio communication systems, especially in the 900MHz and 5.2GHz ranges.
