Engineering Manager

Atlantic Sintered is a global leader in the design and manufacturing of custom components in the metal working Industry. We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for our 220+ employee business located in Wrentham, MA.

The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of Engineering experience along with a good grasp of the powder metal industry. Compensation will be based on the level of experience.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring the success of product development. The engineering manager is the “architect” of the product plan and the production team is the “builder” of the plan.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following is a description of the duties and responsibilities of the Engineering Manager (not limited to the following):

Sales Support (10%)

A. Consults applications engineering and sales early on feasibility and engineering calcs.

B. Performs engineering studies as needed to support sales team

Designs Development plans. (40%)

A. Reviews, approves, and signs off on APQP to onboard new parts.

B. Manages the new product development plans for long term production success including.

- Tool Design

- Work Instructions / Routers

- Work Wise Scheduling parameters.

- Inspection Plan

- Outside Vendor work instructions

- PPAP plan

- Early Containment Plan

- Margin Analysis Plan

- Poka Yokes and other tools and techniques for long term production success

C. Confirms product capability through capability studies

D. Submits required paperwork and PPAP to customers

E. Manages final approval of “We are Ready” by all production teams.

F. Ownership of product remains with engineering until final sign off by production management.

Problem Solving post WAR meetings. (20%)

If a product fails after WAR meeting, engineering is reengaged if the problem was a result of failure with the plan.

Management Responsibilities (10%)

A. Trains, mentors and supports direct reports. Makes assignments.

B. Drives continuous improvement in organization

C. Attends Management review and completes action items in a timely manner.

ECO’s (5%)

Manages Engineering portion of ECO process

PPAPS (5%)

Manages annual PPAP requirements.

Miscellaneous (10%)

A. Maintains item master in inventory tracker

B. Ensures rates are consistent between margin analysis, TCM and routers

C. Attends Fast Response meeting and closes out assignments in a timely manner.

D. Maintains size change database

E. Read and stays current on new technologies applicable to our industry and business

F. Maintains Master Powder list of approved powders

G. Other duties and projects as assigned by President.
