OC San is currently looking to fill the role of an
Engineer (Planning).Under direction, performs a variety of complex and responsible engineering duties in the planning, design, construction, operations, and compliance of wastewater facilities, infrastructure, systems, and programs; oversees development of engineering designs and provides project management of assigned programs and projects; inspects and analyzes plant operations and implements process improvements; enforces industrial wastewater discharge regulations and reviews, processes, and approves assigned permits; serves as a technical resource and advisor on assigned projects, programs, and systems; researches complex engineering issues and conducts engineering-related studies; and performs duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will perform a variety of engineering duties involving wastewater treatment and collection systems planning in the Engineering Department. Specifically, this individual will:
- Coordinate private land development impacts (such as sewer relocations);
- Coordinate outside agency projects (Cities, Cal Trans, Los Angeles and Orange County, etc.);
- Conduct hydraulic modeling analysis;
- Support the planning study program;
- Support the maintenance project program;
- Collaborate on the organization's master plan and development of the Capital Improvement Program and will process sewer connection permits and new service area annexations;
- Act as a liaison to cities, agencies and developers;
- Represent the organization at external meetings and makes presentations for public officials and public sessions;
- Perform related duties as assigned.
1. Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education, with major coursework in civil, mechanical, chemical, electrical, or environmental engineering, or a related field, dependent upon area of assignment.
2. Four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional engineering work experience.
3. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License.
4. Must possess a valid registration as a professional engineer (P.E.) in the State of California
- Civil engineering background.
- Experience representing an agency or organization in negotiations with legal commitments.
- Experience with public works projects (especially sewer collection systems)
- Experience preparing or reviewing hydraulic models.
