Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a creative and collaborative individual with a vision for the future of the energy industry to lead our Energy Resource Planning team within the Energy Planning & Innovation section. We are planning for the energy transition by adding 1,600 megawatts of new generation by 2030, piloting technologies and systems to connect and modernize our grid, and helping our customers participate and benefit from new renewable resources. We are also implementing our Clean Heat Plan that will be de-carbonize the natural gas system through multiple strategies including energy efficiency and electrification.
You will work closely with our Demand Side Management and Distributed Energy Resource Strategy team in areas of energy efficiency, demand response, customer owned generation and storage, electric vehicles, microgrids and other emerging technologies.
As a key member of the Resource and Innovation Planning leadership team, you will report directly to the Manager of Energy Planning & Innovation and exercise managerial authority and strategic leadership over the electric and gas resource planning team. In this job, you will lead community discussions related to future electric and gas projects and should feel comfortable presenting in front of large groups, executive teams and regulatory bodies.

Who You Are: The ideal candidate will demonstrate a track record of implementing creative and innovative solutions, has prepared resource and strategic plans that are forward thinking and has formal, direct management of engineering staff. Additionally, will have experience in gas or electric resource planning, design and implementation including planning for and integrating Distributed Energy Resources and Regional Markets. A Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering field is required and a Master’s Degree in engineering or business and Professional Engineer registration is preferred.
