Resource Planning Engineer 2

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid
Annual salary: $ 87,700.00 - 110,900.00
What you'll do
•Support the development of BC Hydro’s Integrated Resource Plan.
•Conduct resource planning analysis such as evaluating resources options (e.g. solar, wind) from lifecycle or triple bottom
line cost perspectives; and assessing technical and business risks of emerging resource options (e.g. geothermal, pumped
storage hydro).
•Conduct literature reviews and gathering information from various sources to support analysis of resource options.
•Work with technical, financial and geospatial data to analyse trends, prepare summary dashboards and create
visualizations to communicate findings to non-technical audiences.
•Prepare reports and present results of studies to management, and answer information requests to support regulatory
processes.
•Review work done by consultants, contractors and other BC Hydro staff for technical accuracy and achievement of
required results.
What you bring
•Registration, or eligibility for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of
British Columbia (EGBC).
•A minimum of 4 years’ experience in relevant areas such as long-term planning, generation system operations, or power
acquisition.
•Previous industry experience in power project planning or development for greenfield power plants will be considered as
significant assets.
•Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy of work. Demonstrated experience breaking down complex
problems into manageable parts and identification of root causes.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proven capability of presenting technical details to non-technical
audiences.
•Must be very well versed in the use of Excel and have some familiarity with GIS tools.
•Basic understanding of financial analysis concepts demonstrated through previous experience working on cost-benefit
analyses.
•Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities. Previous experience working on projects with tight timelines
and competing priorities.
•Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment and finding ways to contribute in collaborative
projects.
