Employee Relations Specialist
This Business Partner serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, providing guidance on workplace concerns, policy interpretation and conducting workplace investigations while ensuring compliance with Company policies and employment laws .
Responsibilities
Receive, assess and respond to employee concerns, complaints and workplace issues in a timely and professional manner, including but not limited to:
- Conducting impartial workplace investigations.
- Recommending responses and providing policy infraction determinations.
- Representing PGW at external fact-finding hearings.
- Providing consultation, guidance and coaching to management personnel to address policy infractions and performance issues.
Support workplace accommodation process by case-managing accommodation requests and ensuring compliance with applicable policies.
Create and maintain spreadsheets regarding internal & external complaint status; analyze trends and prepare reports for submission to senior management.
Coordinate the Performance Improvement Plan process by assisting management team and employees in plan development and administration for both union and non-union personnel.
Conduct sexual harassment awareness, diversity and other appropriate training sessions.
Assist in the administration of the Employment Utilization Committee.
Perform other special projects and assignments as requested.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Business Administration, Labor Relations or related fields.
1 to 3 years of experience directly related to human resources and employee relations.
Receipt of Professional Human Resource (PHR) designation would be a plus.
Must have knowledge of relevant federal, state and local laws such as Title VII, Equal Pay, American with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination Act, etc.
Must possess interpersonal skills and ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and impartiality.
Must be organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
Must be an effective communicator both verbally and written.
Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
