We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer experienced in designing, operating, analyzing, and maintaining electrical systems that support central plant operations including power distribution, switchgear, motor control systems, protections schemes, controls, and energy efficient operation of utility equipment. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and optimizing existing building systems and designs to enhance performance, energy efficiency, and energy resilience. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in identifying opportunities for improvement to maximize the functionality of diverse building systems.
- Power distribution and infrastructure, specifically in medium and low voltage distribution systems, including load calculations, short circuit analysis, arc flash studies, coordination studies
- Equipment support including generators, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, variable frequence drives, panelboards, motors, pumps, compressors, and fans
- Controls and automation such as integration of electrical systems with building automation systems
2. Conduct detailed evaluations of electrical systems both in the field and through electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, control schematics, and documentation
3. Develop projects to improve resilience and efficiency of electrical projects including preparing project plans, scopes, budges, and technical specifications
5. Understand acceptance testing and periodic maintenance testing including infrared scans, insulation resistance, and breaker timing tests
6. Understand NFPA 70, NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards to assist in developing project requirements and to ensure all recommended solutions comply with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards
7. Identify areas where energy is being wasted or used inefficiently. This could involve analyzing lighting systems, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, motors, control systems, and other electrical components.
8. Compile detailed reports outlining findings, recommendations, and potential cost savings. These reports are often presented to clients or stakeholders to propose and justify energy-saving measures or system improvements.
This role requires strong technical knowledge in electrical engineering, energy systems, and an understanding of building systems. Skills in data analysis, communication, and the ability to translate technical information into actionable recommendations are also crucial. This is a customer-facing job, good communication skills are required. Moreover, staying up to date with advancements in electrical/energy-efficient technologies and regulations is essential to provide the most effective solutions.

Possess at least one of the following combinations of educational and related experience requirements:
1. A four-year engineering degree (electrical) with a minimum of 7 years of experience working with building and site electrical systems.
2. A two-year technical degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience working with electrical systems.
Shall be U. S. citizens and shall be able to pass a National Agency Check or SF-85P (NACI).
1. Possession of one or more of the following certifications will be advantageous:
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
- Other relevant industry certifications such as: InterNational Electrical Testing Association (NETA), Level 3 or Level 4; or the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET)
2. Experience in one or more of the following areas will be advantageous:
- Experience working within the Department of Defense.
- Experience conducting energy audits.
- Experience with microgrids and/or microgrid subsystems such as solar, battery energy storage systems, etc.
- Experience performing life-cycle cost analyses.
