We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to lead the safe, timely, and cost-effective execution of capital projects ranging from $1M to $40M in aluminum extrusion, fabrication, and billet casting facilities. This role is responsible for electrical power and controls engineering, including equipment upgrades, design, material and service specification, and managing installations, startups, and troubleshooting. The Electrical Engineer will drive projects from scope definition through execution, collaborating with plant teams, contractors, and maintenance personnel to ensure equipment functionality, reliability, and efficiency. The role also includes recommending improvements to enhance equipment and production system performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment as an electrical engineer, with a strong background in capital project lifecycle.
- Proven success in electrical power and controls engineering, including equipment specification, installation, and hand-off to operations.
- Experience installing mill-grade equipment.
- Design or supervisory design experience in electrical systems, primarily 480VAC.
- Hands-on experience with PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (Rockwell preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Experience in combustion, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Background in extrusion, casting, and fabrication operations.
- Familiarity with electrical control systems, including motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and industrial automation.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, and other relevant electrical safety standards.
- Lead the safe, on-time, and on-budget development and execution of capital projects.
- Provide electrical engineering and design from concept through hand-off using the established PESHA process.
- Manage contractors to ensure safe and productive execution of work.
- Collaborate with internal/external engineering resources, equipment suppliers, and construction contractors.
- Perform engineering tasks including problem-solving, design calculations, equipment selection, proposal reviews, and drawing management.
- Ensure proper operation and safety of equipment and processes.
- Recommend and implement changes to improve manufacturing value and system performance.
- Ensure processes are capable, controlled, and meet delivery and cost targets.
- Be present on the shop floor as needed, including accessing equipment via ladders or high reaches to evaluate progress and troubleshoot issues.
