Job Description
Position Summuary
An electrician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment throughout the plant. An electrician ensures that the components of the production process, including motors, wiring, control panels, and sensors, are operating safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical System Installation and Setup
- Install, connect, and test electrical systems in the plant, including wiring, control panels, and circuit boards for machines and equipment.
- Set up and configure electrical parts to ensure proper operation of all machines on both paint lines.
- Read blueprints, schematics, or technical drawings to determine the layout of electrical systems.
- Analyze the load and balance the system to ensure that the electrical setup is efficient, preventing overloading and minimizing energy consumption.
- Efficiently trace wiring, break connections into sections, and test each segment to isolate the area of failure.
- Perform routine electrical maintenance, including inspecting, testing, and repairing wires, circuits, motors, transformers, or other electrical components.
- Identify electrical faults or failures in plant machines, control systems and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair the electrical issues to minimize downtime of the plant.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues by testing circuits using specialized equipment such as multimeters, voltage testers, and oscilloscopes.
- Maintain an accurate record of electrical work performed, including maintenance logs, inspections, and repairs.
- Complete electrical checklists and submit your findings pertaining to the repairs to the maintenance manager.
- Document electrical systems upgrades, modifications, and replacements.
- Follow all safety procedures, including personal protective equipment, lock out tag out, and adherence to all OSHA standards.
- Ensure all electrical systems are properly grounded and safeguarded to reduce hazards.
- Report any electrical systems failure to the maintenance manager immediately

Working Conditions
- Environment: In an aluminum coil coating environment, which includes exposure to high noise levels, confined spaces, temperature fluctuations, and fumes/vapors.
- Shifts: Rotating shifts that include days, nights, afternoons, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
- Pace: Fast-paced industrial setting that requires constant awareness of moving machinery and materials.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3+ years of electrical experience with preference to working in manufacturing/industrial setting.- Electrician certification is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, components, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarity with electrical codes, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to notice even the smallest deviation in product quality, machine function, or safety protocols.
- Problem Solving: Ability to analyze, identify the root cause, and solve problems quickly and effectively.
- Communication: Effective communication with team members, supervisor, and other departments.
- Proactive: Take ownership of work and identify how processes can be improved for the future.
- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, crouching, and using tools.
- Ability to work on elevated platforms and in confined spaces.
- Frequently required to lift 50 pounds.
- Use muscles to lift, push, pull or carry objects.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
