Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as an EHS Advisor. In this position, you will play a key role in supporting key safety and environment initiatives and deliverables within the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) department. This role is responsible for supporting a strong safety culture, resolving safety issues and problems at various Trans Mountain sites, and identifying and facilitating the avoidance, minimization, and mitigation of environmental impacts associated with O&M activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

- Promote H&S awareness and commitment by building on existing culture and program strengths and connect with the workforce to communicate the importance of Safety and promote corporate H&S objectives, policies, and procedures.

- Assist and drive the implementation of a zero-injury culture and operational excellence, including promoting and fostering safety programs. Ensuring all employees and contractors are properly trained and equipped to perform work safely and conduct focused inspections to ensure program effectiveness.

- Implement Trans Mountain's environmental planning process for operational and maintenance (O&M) projects within Interior BC through the identification of potential environmental impacts and associated mitigation strategies.

- Develop environmental protection plans and communicate mitigation practices and procedures to ensure Trans Mountain's activities are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements.

- Coordinate environmental monitoring requirements for O&M projects including the selection and management of third-party technical consultants where required.

- Execute wildlife sweeps and environmental inspections, support Indigenous Monitors, and coordinate heritage resource assessments as required.

- Serve as safety and environment “Point of Contact” and address EHS matters at field locations.

- Participate in Job Hazard Assessments and assist with the implementation of safety control measures while providing training to company personnel on EHS topics.

- Support the Radiation Safety Officer/Alternate managing the radiation component of the Safety Program.

- Represent geographical area on EHS Reps Committee.

- Provide safety support, as needed, to Major Projects, engineering, or operations projects.

- Participate in Emergency Response drills and actual responses at any Trans Mountain location, during and outside of regular work hours, as a safety officer or a member of the environmental unit.

- Facilitate “root cause” analysis of reported incidents, such as near misses, personal injury, or vehicle accidents.

- Participate in formal investigation teams for serious incidents, and conduct periodic EHS inspections of company facilities, including contractors, and assist with corporate and government EHS assessments and audits.

Qualifications And Professional Experience

- Post-secondary education in Environmental Science or related field

- Environmental Professional (P.Ag, P.Bio, etc.) is an asset.

- Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation is an asset.

- Other safety or environment designations are considered an asset.

- Environmental experience with pipeline operations and maintenance or other oilfield experience

- Understanding of environmental regulation (AB, BC) and application of federal regulations (CER, DFO, ECCC) specifically relating to permit applications

- Knowledge of industry best practices for Environmental Protection Plans and associated mitigation measures (e.g. fisheries, soil science, botany, reclamation)

- Field experience including oversight of contractors

- Training in root cause analysis, incident investigation, emergency response, and radiation safety.

- Understanding of Safety Management Systems, inspection processes, hazard reporting, and statistics.

- A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.

- Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.

- Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.

- Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.

Working Conditions

- Willingness and ability to travel as required.

- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.

- May need to provide support outside of regular business hours and/or on the weekend.

- Travel up to 20% of time.
