JOB TITLE: DISTRIBUTED GENERATION COORDINATOR

POSITION OVERVIEW:
•Under the general direction of the Supervisor, DG Coordination, the Distributed Generation Coordinator will assist installers, project developers, and customers in navigating the generator interconnection process.
•The coordinator serves as the point of contact at Versant Power for distributed generation installers and project developers. The coordinator oversees the initial processes for distributed generation interconnection projects, ensures regulated timelines are being met by Versant Power and its contractors, and communicates requirements and expectations to installers and developers for each project.
•The coordinator should also have a general understanding of net energy billing, collaborating effectively with our net energy billing specialists. The coordinator should be able to guide customers through initial net billing application questions and determine any additional requirements in order for the customer to receive net energy billing.
•This position requires knowledge of Versant Power’s internal processes and standard contracts in compliance with the Maine Public Utilities Commission’s Small Generator Interconnection Standards Chapter 324. Awareness and a basic understanding of the Customer Net Energy Billing Chapter 313 and the Distributed Generation Procurement Chapter 313 is also required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Creates and maintains collaborative working relationships internally and with developers, installers, and customers through meetings and phone or email communications.
•Assists installers and developers through the interconnection process.
•Collaborates with others on the Distributed Generation team to keep them aware of projects in the interconnection queue.
•Works with the Planning, Engineering, Metering, Billing, and Legal departments on all aspects of the interconnection process.
•Processes interconnection applications and maintains all contracts, agreements and essential documents.
•Schedules and attends scoping meetings with internal and external project stakeholders and maintains the distribution interconnection project queue.
•Acquires and maintains knowledge of all Versant Power’s customer support, metering, billing and communications systems.
•Ability to create and track invoices sent to developers and customers.
•Serves as a subject matter expert for training, auditing, compliance and regulatory matters related to small generator interconnections and net energy billing.
•Works in accordance with the documented environmental procedures, instructions, and specific responsibilities as defined in individual procedures and instructions. Reports problems or deviations associated with the environmental issues and the Environmental Management System (EMS) to the Environmental Department.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Maintains files, process documentation and trains backup resources.
•Attends outside training as required or directed to compliment work responsibilities.
•Performs additional tasks as assigned, including designated duties associated with Storm Restoration.
REQUIRED OR PREFERRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering concentration preferred; acceptable work experience in lieu of education may be considered.
•Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills are required.
•Ability to manage tasks and deadlines for multiple long-term concurrent projects is required.
•Independent problem-solving abilities and strict attention to detail required.
•Demonstrated strong proficiency in office software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook required.
•Ability to learn new applications and programs such as Smartsheets.
•Must be able to deal courteously, tactfully and efficiently with internal and external contacts.
•Position requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to work independently as well as within team setting.
•Project management experience strongly desired.
•GIS experience strongly desired.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•Position is primarily sedentary, some standing, walking, speaking, driving and writing is required.
•Position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel for meetings at various locations throughout the service territory
•Position requires visual concentration related to computer use.
•Position may be somewhat stressful due to project deadline requirements.
WORK HOURS:
•Usual work hours are Monday through Friday. Working 40 hours is expected.
PAY:
•Pay will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
