Job Scope and Responsibilities:

The Dispatcher coordinates the timely and cost-effective delivery of ready-mix concrete from plant locations to job sites, meeting customer expectations while optimizing operational efficiency. This role manages mixer truck schedules, communicates with drivers and plant staff, and ensures compliance with DOT regulations, supporting S.B. Cox Ready Mix’s commitment to reliable service.

Key Duties:

•

Order Management and Scheduling:

•

Receive and process customer orders via phone or order taker, confirming quantity, mix, delivery time, and job site details.

•

Probe customers for special requests and advise on potential issues (e.g., load limits, scheduling conflicts, vehicle weight restrictions).

•

Suggest value-added products to enhance performance based on customer needs.

•

Enter orders accurately and promptly into the dispatch system, generating complete delivery tickets for plant managers.

•

Dynamically adjust dispatch schedules to meet fluctuating operational demands, ensuring efficiency during peak and off-peak periods.

•

Operational Coordination:

•

Schedule mixer trucks to maximize utilization while meeting customer delivery expectations.

•

Monitor truck status continuously to ensure customer satisfaction and optimal equipment use.

•

Communicate frequently with mixer drivers, plant managers, production managers, and operations managers to address issues and provide updates.

•

Notify plant and driver managers of driver start and finish times.

•

Compliance and Support:

•

Collaborate with operations to ensure drivers comply with local, state, and federal DOT guidelines.

•

Maintain accurate records of orders, deliveries, and communications.

•

Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

•

Collaboration:

•

Work closely with plant staff, drivers, and field personnel to resolve issues and maintain delivery schedules.

•

Provide real-time input to optimize dispatch processes and customer service.

Qualifications:

•

High school diploma or equivalent required.

•

Minimum 3 years of dispatch experience required; construction or ready-mix concrete industry experience preferred.

•

Fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal) to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking drivers, customers, and job site personnel.

•

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

•

Strong knowledge of the Richmond, VA geographic area preferred.

•

Proficiency with dispatch software, personal computers, and operating systems.

•

Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, and solve problems with minimal supervision.

•

Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

•

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret maps and directions.
