Director of Enterprise Safety & Health

. In this role, you will shape the strategy, culture, and execution of safety programs across a major energy utility serving millions of customers.

About the Role:

This is not just a compliance role; this is a

transformational leadership position

. You'll oversee all aspects of CenterPoint Energy’s enterprise safety and occupational health programs, aligning corporate safety strategy with regulatory standards, operational needs, and a culture of continuous improvement.

You'll be responsible for:

- Leading a geographically dispersed safety team

- Driving innovation in health & safety initiatives

- Influencing executive and field-level safety performance

- Governing enterprise-wide safety compliance and risk mitigation

- Guiding emergency response, contractor safety, DOT compliance, return-to-work programs, and more

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

- Has

10+ years of safety leadership

experience, including

5+ years in senior management

- Brings deep expertise in safety within

electric/gas utility, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sectors

- Can lead

multi-site, cross-functional teams

with confidence

- Thrives in both strategy and execution—

from boardroom to field

- Possesses a clear vision of

what Safety Excellence looks like

- Understands how to engage a

multi-generational workforce

using innovative training methods

- Has a track record of building

resilient, compliance-forward cultures

Bonus Points:

- CSP certification (Certified Safety Professional)

- Experience with OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM) Program

- Proven success navigating regulatory frameworks and audits

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in safety, Engineering, Industrial Relations, Science, or a related technical field

- Extensive experience managing both people and programs across diverse geographies
