Role: Director, HR Operations & Systems
Status: 18 Month Contract
Reports to: Vice President, Human Resources
Location: Markham, ON
Compensation: $150,000 - $190,000
Summary:
Enercare is seeking a strategic, hands-on HR leader to oversee HR Operations and HRIS for an 18-month contract. Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, this role is accountable for delivering operational excellence, scalable systems, and a best-in-class employee and manager experience across the organization. The Director will lead enterprise HR operations, compliance, and the evolution of our Dayforce platform in close partnership with IT, Finance, and business leaders.
Responsibilities
HR Operations Leadership
- Lead, develop, and oversee a team of six HR professionals, including two direct reports, fostering accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a trusted operational partner to HR leadership and business stakeholders, aligning HR service delivery with organizational priorities.
- Elevate the employee and manager experience by simplifying, automating, and standardizing HR administrative processes.
- Strengthen knowledge management by overseeing the development of HR training resources, documentation, and self-service tools.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Accounting, IT, Internal Communications, HR team members, and senior leaders to deliver integrated HR solutions.
- Support payroll administration.
- Provide strategic and operational oversight of the Dayforce HRIS, ensuring system stability, data integrity, reporting accuracy, and high user adoption.
- Own the HRIS roadmap to unlock the capacities in Dayforce including enhancements to reporting, mobile functionality, self-service, and single sign-on (SSO).Lead HRIS planning, system upgrades, and integrations in partnership with IT and external providers.Leverage HR data and analytics to support workforce planning, operational insights, and executive decision-making.Increase employee and manager self-service adoption by maximizing HRIS capabilities and improving user experience.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and legislative requirements, including SOX, data privacy, security, and employment legislation.
- Lead annual compliance, policy and attestation initiatives
- Lead governance frameworks for HR operations and systems, ensuring consistency, audit readiness, and risk mitigation.
- Drive effective change management and communications for major HR operational or system transformations.
- Stay current on external trends, best practices, and regulatory developments, providing guidance to HR leadership as needed.- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.10+ years of progressive HR experience, including demonstrated leadership in HR operations and HR systems.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing HRIS platforms, payroll, benefits administration, and end-to-end HR process design.
- Strong Dayforce expertise preferred.
- Solid knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and HR compliance requirements.
- Experience in a unionized environment considered an asset.
- Professional HR designation (CHRP, CHRL, SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
