Job Summary
The Design Engineer serves as part of a support group for all engineering issues regarding the CAD development for improvement programs to which he/she is assigned. This includes receiving, interpreting and refining customer requirements, assisting with the coordination of design and process reviews and establishment of product and process parameters for the costing and quoting functions with the aid of CAD activities. Development programs include part design and any general drawing requirements.
Responsibilities
•Prepare all appropriate engineering documentation required for internal needs and external expectations. This will include drawings/data of finished and as cast products, and the specifications and technical descriptions associated with these documents.
•Interact with customer engineering and design staff (as needed) to understand and document requirements and specifications through the creation of the part drawing(s) using Enkei’s current CAD software.
•Assist the engineers on any issue pertaining to the product development phase. This will include creation and analysis of 3-D data for CAE related tasks, selecting of sample parts, follow up on drawing related issues, electronic data storage, etc.
•Participate with laboratory, quality and other engineering staff in design reviews and failure modes and effects analysis to ensure design and process integrity and program timeliness.
•Provide cost and continuous improvement ideas pursuant to designs, processes and procedures to enhance the company’s competitive position in the market.
Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
•Knowledge of CAD software and the ability to move from design concept to finished design, including layouts, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5M) and detail and tooling drawings
•Preferred experience with Abaqus non-linear analysis, and/or Catia V6
•Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
