Company: Thermal Engineering Int'l (USA) Location: La Palma, CA Job Type: Engineering Position Summary: Thermal Engineering International (USA) Inc. designs and fabricates high quality Pressure Vessels and Heat Transfer Equipment for the power generation and process industries worldwide. The duties for this position involve reviewing customer specifications, performing mechanical design calculations and associated analysis, preparing manufacturing drawings as well as presenting, documenting and updating of these activities to others as necessary. The position will require interaction with internal personnel and with external customers, subcontractor manufacturers, and material vendors.

Essential Responsibilities:

•

Review contract requirements, client technical specifications, sales package and all design data.

•

Perform mechanical and structural calculations, prepare design details, generate design breakdowns, produce fabrication drawings and bills of materials, analyze foundation loading, perform relevant code calculations, prepare operating/instruction manuals.

•

Develop required general arrangement drawings, fabrication details, assembly drawings, P&ID, and Bill of Material drawings.

•

Review fabrication drawings for conformity to client specification.

•

Issue final drawings/document packages to workshops or clients as instructed.

•

Attend project kick-off meeting for new projects, and any other project review meetings when necessary.

•

Prepare and issue Engineering RFQs/Requisitions in a timely manner.

•

Prepare Installation and Operation Manuals (IOM) and submit to client for review and approval.

•

Assist with preparation of technical comments and technical follow-up with customers during project execution stage.

•

Coordinate with other department specialty engineers as required.

•

Develop new ideas and design concepts in order to improve productivity and reduce cost.

•

Notify the Project Manager of contract changes that result in price additions or deducts, scope variations that could have an impact on cost, quality, or delivery schedule.

•

Attend onsite meetings with customers and subcontract manufacturers

•

Perform onsite equipment inspections and create reports documenting findings.

•

Participate in internal project meetings, engineering department meetings and conference calls with customer.

Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

•

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related Engineering Degree.

•

Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate is a plus.

•

Certification in AutoCAD or SolidWorks design software is a plus.

•

Experience with construction of welded structures is a plus.

•

Previous power plant employment experience is a plus, particularly nuclear power plant experience.

•

Experience in performing finite element analysis (FEA) to the requirements of ASME Section VIII Division 2 is a plus.

•

Some working knowledge of ASME B31.1, AWS, and AISC is a plus.

•

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.

•

Ability to schedule, manage, prioritize, and execute assignments with accuracy.

•

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
