Department Manager, AI & Data Platform Delivery

Overview

The AI Platform Delivery Department Manager leads the enterprise strategy, governance, and operational excellence of Con Edison's core AI and data platforms that power grid operations, asset management, forecasting, and customer analytics. This role oversees the end-to-end performance, security, and reliability of key technologies, including Google BigQuery, Databricks, and C3.ai, ensuring they deliver trusted, compliant, and scalable services across the company. Acting as the strategic owner, the manager aligns all platform operations with Con Edison's long-term grid modernization and digital transformation goals.In addition to technical leadership, the position carries responsibility for financial management, vendor engagement, and cross-functional collaboration with cybersecurity, legal, compliance, and infrastructure teams. The manager ensures data platforms meet utility-grade standards for availability, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance while enabling innovation through AI-driven insights. Serving as a bridge between business, operations, and technology, this leader translates enterprise priorities into actionable platform strategies and reports value realization and risk posture to senior executives.

- Lead the enterprise AI and data platform strategy aligned with Con Edisons modernization and customer initiatives

- Manage, lead and develop platform managers through coaching, performance management, and effective work assignment responsible for BigQuery, Databricks, and C3.ai, ensuring operational excellence and platform maturity

- Establish and enforce platform standards, KPIs, SLAs, and operating models across all AI and data environments

- Define and maintain target-state architecture, data integration, and API standards for enterprise interoperability

- Ensure robust data governance, lineage, quality, access controls, and cybersecurity practices

- Maintain compliance with regulatory, privacy, and audit requirements for critical infrastructure systems

- Oversee 24x7 platform reliability, incident management, and operational resilience for production workloads

- Collaborate with Cybersecurity, Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams to safeguard sensitive data and operational assets

- Manage budgets, cloud consumption, and vendor relationships, optimizing cost-to-value across platforms

- Enable secure, scalable AI, ML, and advanced analytics use cases that drive operational and business insights

- Act as the primary interface for business and operations stakeholders, translating needs into platform capabilities

- Provide executive-level reporting on platform health, risk posture, adoption, and value realization

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

- Master's Degree and a minimum of 6 years full-time relevant work experience or

- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 8 years full-time relevant work experience.

Preferred Education/Experience

- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems, Information Systems, related business or technology aligned field and a minimum of 6 years full-time relevant work experience.

Relevant Work Experience

- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise AI and data platform strategy, governance, and operations in large scale, highly regulated environments, preferred

- Proven experience owning and operating core data and AI platforms such as Google BigQuery, Databricks, and C3.ai, with accountability for performance, reliability, scalability, and security, preferred

- Strong background establishing and enforcing utility grade standards for platform availability, cybersecurity, data protection, and regulatory compliance, preferred

- Hands on experience overseeing end to end platform delivery and operations, including architecture oversight, service reliability, incident management, and continuous improvement, preferred

- Demonstrated ability to align AI and data platform capabilities with long term grid modernization, digital transformation, and operational excellence goals, preferred

- Experience managing platform financials, including budget ownership, cost optimization, vendor management, and contract oversight, preferred

- Proven track record partnering closely with Cybersecurity, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and IT Infrastructure teams to deliver compliant and secure enterprise platforms, preferred

- Experience enabling AI driven analytics and insights that support grid operations, asset management, forecasting, and customer analytics, preferred

- Ability to translate complex business and operational priorities into actionable platform strategies and execution roadmaps, preferred

- Strong executive communication skills, with experience reporting platform value realization, operational health, and risk posture to senior leadership, preferred
