Data Assistant

Description

The Data Assistant is a grant funded position for the EMPOWER program, a SAMHSA funded project from 9/30/2023 to 9/29/2028. Working under moderate to general supervision, the Data Assistant is responsible for:

- Enrolls participants in the project.

- Conducts baseline assessments using standardized measures.

- Tracks participants with regular communications, maintains rapport and maximizes program ability to locate persons for discharge and follow-up assessments.

- Conducts follow up assessments on site or in the community.

- Performs computer data entry of standardized assessments and other projects-relevant information.

- Maintains regular communication with Program Evaluator and other project staff about study progress and to address problems.

- Takes minutes during evaluation-related meetings and conference calls, creates “Next Steps/To Do” list following each meeting.

- Adheres to accepted ethical and behavioral standards of conduct and attends training and formal education as needed to maintain and/or advance credentialing or develop job skills.

- Ensures that federal regulations on privacy, confidentially, and patient’s rights are enforced (42 C.F.R., Part 2, and HIPAA).

- Adheres to all IBR and program/departmental policies and procedures, including attendance and safety policies, and supports IBR and program/department mission, goals, and philosophy in all interactions with patients, staff, and other business contacts.

- Understands safety and security protocols and responds appropriately in emergency situations.

- Attends monthly staff meetings and all mandatory trainings established by IBR.

- Maintains a neat and professional work environment and exercises care in the use of facilities, equipment, and materials.

- Interacts with IBR staff, patients, and other business contacts in an appropriate and professional manner.

Nonessential Functions

- All other duties as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position works 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the program.

- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, public health. or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

- Past experience in research/evaluation and use of standardized assessment measures.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

- Ability to engage with project participants, establishing trust and rapport essential to successful tracking and retention.

- Experience with vulnerable and hard to reach population (e.g. persons living with HIV; individuals with substance use disorders; LGBTQ community).

- Experience in research or treatment of individuals with substance use disorders.

- Knowledge of federal, state, local and agency regulations, policies and procedures confidentiality and medication assisted treatment delivery.

- Ability to analyze data, think independently and coordinate high priority initiatives and timelines.

- Knowledge of approaches and procedures for testing for HIV, Hepatitis C and other infectious diseases.

- Ability to develop and maintain effective and ethical relationships with staff, individuals and groups.

- Ability to work as part of a comprehensive community support systems, health and human service resources and activities.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills with knowledge of medical terminology as related to substance abuse and dependency.

- Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work, including evenings and weekends.

- Typical office conditions with frequent sitting, standing, and walking

- Frequent repetitive hand motion with use of computer and office equipment.

- Knowledge of computers, and word processing and data processing software.

- Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
