The Dynamics 365 Project Accounting Administrator is responsible for the administration, support, and optimization of the Project Accounting module within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O). This role plays a key part in supporting accurate project financials, enabling efficient operations, and enhancing reporting across the organization.
In addition, this position will support the implementation and maintenance of the AXtension Project Management ISV solution integrated with D365. Prior experience with AXtension is a plus, but training will be provided. Experience building Power BI reports specific to project financials is also highly desirable.
- Project Accounting & AXtension ISV Support
- - Serve as a subject matter expert for the D365 Project Accounting module and the AXtension Project Management ISV.
- Configure and maintain key project accounting components: contracts, budgets, funding sources, WBS, billing rules, and revenue recognition.
- Support AXtension functionality for project planning, scheduling, forecasting, and document tracking.
- User Support & Issue Resolution
- - Provide functional support to project managers, accountants, and other users for project-related activities in D365 and AXtension.
- Troubleshoot project-related postings, time tracking, billing, and budget discrepancies.
- Log, track, and document issues for escalation when necessary.
- System Administration & Compliance
- - Manage project-related security roles, permissions, and workflows in both D365 and AXtension.
- Ensure adherence to data governance and internal control policies.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise governance standards and support the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) to deliver compliant and high-quality solutions.
- Training & Documentation
- - Deliver user training on project accounting processes and the AXtension solution.
- Create and maintain comprehensive SOPs, job aids, and knowledgebase content.
- Testing & Upgrades
- - Support testing efforts (regression, UAT) related to D365 and AXtension upgrades or customizations.
- Assist in maintaining up-to-date testing procedures and records in LCS.
- Reporting & Analysis
- - Support the development of project-specific reporting using Power BI.
- Experience building Power BI reports tied to project costs, budgets, utilization, and profitability is a plus.
- Ensure accurate data availability for stakeholders by validating report data sources and integrity.
- Required:
- - 2+ years of experience with D365 Finance & Operations, specifically in Project Accounting.- Understanding of project lifecycle financials: budgeting, cost tracking, billing, and revenue recognition.
- Experience supporting business users and resolving functional ERP issues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Power BI.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Preferred:
- - Experience with AXtension Project Management ISV is a plus; training will be provided.
- Experience creating Power BI reports focused on project accounting metrics (e.g., cost vs. budget, earned value, billing status).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
- Familiarity with LCS, DevOps, SSRS, and D365 security roles and permissions.
- High attention to detail and accuracy with financial data.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently or in a cross-functional team.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
