Job Overview
The Cut to Length Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending machines to cut coils according to customer specifications. This role involves setting up CTL machines, verifying the dimensions of completed products, examining them for defects, and ensuring the machinery operates efficiently to meet production goals. Seeking a Cut-to-Length operator for 2nd shift (1:30pm to 10pm, able to work 10 to 12hrs when needed), pay will be based on the experience.
- Set up and adjust cut-to-length machines according to specified measurements and requirements
- Start machines, monitor their operations, and document operational data
- Test and adjust machine speeds or actions to match product specifications using gauges and hand tools
- Examine finished products for defects like chipped edges or marred surfaces; sort defective pieces by type
- Interpret production schedules or work orders to determine material specifications, cutting lines, dimensions, and tolerances
- Perform other tasks as assigned
- Minimum 1 year of similar job experience as well as experience operating a CTL machine preferred
- Proficiency in using measuring devices.
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read and understand work orders
- Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility
