About This Job

Position Description PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Partner with KMI's experienced corporate finance teammates to coordinate and consolidate KMI's earnings, capex, and cash flow forecasts using multifaceted financial modeling and automated systems while interfacing with all levels of finance colleagues and management within KMI Corporate and KMI business segments. Provide meaningful analysis and variance explanations to Senior Management for use in the strategic and tactical decision-making process.

Job Responsibilitie s

- Consolidate and report bi-weekly earnings, capex, and cash flow forecasts in an accurate and timely manner.

- Monitor monthly accounting processes in order to accurately report actuals on all financial data forecasted.

- Provide meaningful analysis and explanations on variances to prior forecast and budget.

- Prepare reconciliations and reports for internal and external use in support of KMI’s quarterly earnings reporting.

- Understand and translate financial forecasts, actuals, budgets, and scenarios into key metrics to be used by Senior Management.

- Articulate and present business outcomes derived from analyses to various levels of colleagues and management.

- Interface with all levels of finance colleagues and management in the business segments and corporate KMI to stay abreast of business operations potentially impacting financial results.

- Along with other teammates, maintain and administer all facets of Planful forecasting system, including maintaining Planning hierarchies, templates, and reports, as well as monitoring interface with Hyperion Essbase.

- Support and strengthen our fast paced corporate finance team in all functional areas and special requests as needed.


Position Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.


Experience/ Specific Knowledge

- Minimum 2-5 years experience in corporate accounting/financial planning and analysis.

- Extensive experience in performing detailed financial variance analysis.

- Experienced with computerized accounting systems, financial modeling, budgets, financial analysis, and management reporting.

- Detailed understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial statements, and the accounting process.

- Advanced Excel skills.

- Must possess strong organizational skills.

- Must have the skills to communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner in both oral and written form.

- Must possess outstanding problem analysis and resolution skills at both a strategic and functional level.

- Ability to work independently to understand, design, and create complex models and reports is essential.

- Ability to manage and execute multiple tasks simultaneously and under pressure.

- Must possess the experience and skills to foresee and anticipate questions from Senior Management and have skills to address questions quickly and intelligently.

- Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.

- Must exhibit professionalism and commitment to company values.


Preferred Experience/Skills

- Experience in energy industry preferred

- Experience with Planful, Hyperion Essbase, and Lawson financial systems

Working Conditions

Must be able to work under intense time pressure on multiple projects with concurrent deadlines; able to easily and effectively interface with all levels of management; precise and accurate attention to detail; quick to assume responsibilities and take total responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of all information presented; efficient use of time; highly developed organizational skills. Must be able to adhere to changing deadlines and be flexible with schedule including nights and weekends.

This position is located in Houston and offers a hybrid schedule (Monday-Wednesday in office, Thursday and Friday working remotely) Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of the successful candidate
