Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Planning, this role will participate in long-term budget and planning, scenario modelling, performance reporting and providing market and business intelligence.
Duties include the following, but are not limited to:
- Capital Forecasting/Tracking
- Review Development/Optimization AFEs to ensure that key fields are accurate and cases are set up in ValNav
- Coordinate monthly forecasts for Development and Optimization
- Provide Actual to Forecast | Actual to Budget variance analysis
- Production Forecasting/Tracking
- Coordinate monthly forecasts for Development and Operations
- Provide Actual to Forecast | Actual to Budget variance analysis
- Economic Analysis/Financial Modelling
- Prepare internal project economics, including sensitivities and scenario analysis
- Prepare and analyze annual budget and long-term plan materials, including Board materials
- Perform annual lookbacks for the Development team
- ValNav Support
- Maintain and validate key input fields within ValNav shrinks, yields, operating costs, interests, hierarchies, vendor IDs, etc.
- Run monthly data load process to bring in production and capital information from various systems
- Key contact for Development/Operations Group for ValNav questions
- Support other stakeholders within Obsidian Energy, as directed
- Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent degree applicable to the energy industry; finance or accounting background preferred
- 3-7 years of experience within energy industry
- Financial markets experience, preferably in investment banking, research, wealth management, or equity sell-side
- Superior financial modelling, Excel (including pivot tables, power query, and lookup functions) and PowerPoint skills
- Experience running/updating SQL queries will be an asset
- Understanding of key oil and gas financial metrics
- Strong work ethic and ability to work in an environment requiring time-sensitive deliverables and sometimes conflicting demands and time constraints
- Very high attention to detail and accuracy
- Well-developed problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with associated confidence to effectively correspond with senior management and other levels of the organization
- Expectation to maintain the strictest confidentiality
