BHE Canada is seeking a Corporate Accountant who will assist with monthly operations accounting, invoicing and general accounting. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Corporate Accountant will collaborate closely with Senior Finance personnel and play a vital role in the ongoing operations and development of BHE Canada’s energy assets.
The position requires flexibility in managing daily activities and demonstrated ability to prioritize handle issues effectively, especially in an unstructured work environment.
- Calculate sales revenue and perform month end close procedures for BHE Canada’s operating entities
- Verify completion of invoicing templates and issue monthly sales invoices to customers
- Perform monthly derivative and hedge accounting adjustments, including valuation impacts and related journal entries
- Customer service liaison for energy contract customers
- Verify accuracy and completeness of third-party generation data and record monthly sales
- Gather and analyze volumetric data tracking production and consumption and reconcile differences with appropriate operations group
- Provide accounting support for energy trading settlements and financial planning and budgeting
- Own the end-to-end monthly operations reporting process including generation, variance analysis to budget, and distribution of monthly operations reporting package
- Oversee collection of account receivables and reconciliation of accounts payables/cash calls
- Carry out ad-hoc monthly reporting assignments as required by senior management
- Reconcile quarterly general ledger accounts checklist
- Prepare and distribute capital expenditure and project spending reporting
- Create processes and procedures around capital expenditure reporting
- Performs annual impairment indicator review
- Minimum 7-10 years progressive accounting experience in invoicing, sales tracking and general accounting experience
- Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting or related education required
- Proactive, self-directed and results focused with an ability to adapt to changing work environment
- Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
- CPA designation in progress or willingness to pursue CPA designation
- Proficiency with MS Office 365 software and SAP would be an asset
- Exceptional team skills and proven ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Effective communication, interpersonal and customer service skills to interface with team members and customers to promote a positive outcome
- Self-starter who can work independently, and balance multiple priorities with tight deadlines
- Proven track record of good attendance and performance
