Responsible for the accounting and finance functions of the corporation. Conducts financial reporting and analysis, in order to provide recommendations to executive management and the board of directors to ensure efficient financial operations. Directs and oversees the preparation of the annual budget and the annual report. Advises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities. Develops and maintains fixed assets/capital assets schedules and accountability (tracking, periodic audits, determination of life expectancies, and amortization/depreciation reporting schedules). Develops and manages internal control, policies, processes and procedures related to the financial operations of the organization. Coordinates internal and external audits, and reports findings and recommendations to the General Manager and the board of directors. Ensures the timely completion of all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes. Promptly evaluates findings and recommendations as reported by auditors and reports the information to the General Manager to determine the proper course of action. Performs special projects and/or research under the direction of the General Manager and/or the board of directors as it relates to the financial operations of the organization. Participates in job specific training, and other various required corporate training programs. Complies with federal and state regulations and all established corporate policies and procedures. Other duties as may be assigned.
A self-starting individual who possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Must have at least 6 – 8 years prior accounting experience to include financial package development, systems flowcharting/design, and the development and coordination of audits (internal and external). Must have prior experience in usage of software programs for preparation of financial reports, purchasing, inventory, accounts payable/receivable and billing. Must have prior experience in the development and completion of general ledger account reconciliations. Strong experience with general ledger, month-end close, account analysis, and account reconciliation is required. The ability to effectively organize and prioritize workload in a fast paced environment is required. Attention to detail and mental concentration are necessary for accurately performing tasks and handling frequent interruptions. Confidentiality of corporate and client information is required. Strong oral and written communication skills are required in order to effectively communicate with employees, management, auditors, and the Board of Directors, etc. Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Visual and mental concentration are necessary for accurately performing tasks, working at a computer for long periods of time in a fast paced environment and handling frequent interruptions. Position requires extended periods of sitting in front of a computer which may result in visual eye strain.
8 years prior experience is preferred. Experience working with grants / non-profit organizations is a plus.
