JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE
The Controller is responsible for insuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting functions of the division including managing the monthly accounting close process, preparing financial statements for US and UK GAAP reporting requirements, and coordinating the internal and external audit process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Assumes responsibility for insuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the Department by:
•Formulating departmental goals, strategies, and operating policies and procedures and directing implementation of approved changes.
•Making recommendations on employees regarding employment, performance appraisal, salary changes, promotions, transfers, or terminations.
•Insuring productivity levels are maintained through effective monitoring of staffing levels and financial requirements.
•Guiding personnel to achieve optimum performance levels.
•Oversees general accounting responsibilities including account receivable, account payable, fixed assets, inventory, and the monthly close process.
•Tracks, monitors and reports days sale outstanding (DSOs) for accounts receivable; collects past due balances; analyzes the adequacy of the allowance for doubtful accounts.
•Reviews monthly account reconciliation for correctness and proper accounting treatment
•Prepares monthly and annual financial statements and related management reports
•Prepares quarterly and annual balance sheet and cash flow formal reforecasts and report on variances monthly.
•Coordinates the internal and external audit processes
•Liaises with auditors on accounting changes
•Provides financial data and tax depreciation calculations for year-end tax reporting package
•Provides input into financial controls assurance and other requested reports
•Reviews and provides comments to proposed contracts (specifically related to billing terms and other financial arrangements)
•Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions
QUALIFICATIONS
•Thorough knowledge and understanding of UK and US accounting principles
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Strong analytical skills
•Ability to proactively problem solve with little supervision
•Ability to meet deadlines and be flexible with work schedules
•Work well with others and participate in a team environment
•Prior supervisory experience required with strong leadership skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BA/BS in Accounting or Business, MBA preferred and 7-10 years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Certified Public Accounting License required
