The Controller will function as a business partner to provide financial leadership and guidance with the Facility Manager and Owners so that the financial results can be affectively managed. In conjunction with onsite personnel, this position will be responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of monthly, quarterly and annual financials in accordance with GAAP. In addition, the controller will assist in the development and implementation of internal controls as well as act as a liaison with lenders and other key financial relationships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
•Responsible for all accounting functions, such as:
•Management and oversight of treasury functions and income tax filings.
•Oversight of property tax and sales and use tax.
•Accurate monthly financial reporting, with explanations of results compared to budget and forecast.
•Coordination of weekly / monthly operational KPIs.
•Develop and administer accounting processes and internal controls to ensure appropriate segregation of duties, appropriate approval of transactions and security of assets.
•Manage Accounts Payable process inlcuding preparation of weekly check runs ensuring amounts are appropriate and in line with properly approved expenditures and 1099 reporting.
•Review of Accounts Receivables to ensure timely payment, in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
•Enter balance sheet reconciliations and review monthly for reasonableness.
•Responsible for inventory reporting including, WIP, FG, spare parts, chemicals and enzymes, and assistance in corn inventory for reporting.
•Direct other failcilty indivudals involved in accoutning activites.
•Plan, coordinate and be primary point of contact for annual audit.
•Work with managed facility Manager to ensure they are receiving all financial key metrics and reports necessary to understand financial results and facilitate decision-making.
•Perform financial modeling to support annual budgeting, monthly forecasts, and generation of scenarios for financial decision-making.
•Assist managed facility Manager with administrative items such as:
•Review of new and/or existing contracts for adequate business terms.
•Preparation of ROI analysis for desired capital projects.
•Maintenance of appropriate business licenses and registrations for compliance purposes (e.g. EPA and other regulatory reporting, feed tag licenses).
•Work with company business partners to ensure that weekly reporting requirements are being met.
•Attend board meetings and present financial results along with other financial reports as required (i.e. annual budgets, financial forecasts, ROI analysis, etc.).
•Participate in managed facility Managers staff meetings as necessary.
•Liason with Manager and company business partners noted above to make recommendations and decisions related to risk management concepts (i.e. locking in ethanol or co-product margins, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: Bachelor degree in Accounting or related field required
CMA or CPA preferred
Required Knowledge
& Experience: 7 plus years overall accounting experience required
5 years cost accounting experience preferred, with emphasis on supporting operational leaders with reporting and analysis
Knowledge of Cooperative law structure and financial reporting for Cooperative compliance preferred
5 years previous supervisory experience preferred
Exceptional math skills
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, proficient in MS Excel
Knowledge of general office equipment required
Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP environment and associated grain products
