We’re seeking an experienced controller to oversee growing business and team. You will oversee our entire accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have experience as an accountant in our industry, preferably in a senior role. You will be a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, as you will streamline our budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes. The controller will also produce thorough financial reporting to help improve our operational efficiency, produce departmental budgets and aid in our continued growth. We need a leader who possesses a hands-on approach to developing both the team and operating procedures, controls and compliance standards. As a for-profit organization, you will help identify ways to improve financial efficiency, cutting costs and boosting businesses' profits.
Corporate Headquarters in West Virginia. Open to remote or hybrid work location.
Primary Duties: Process, Controls and Financial Reporting
- Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills.
- Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines for the accounting department.
- Create and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets.
- Build internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures for budget accounting, cash and credit management.
- Coordinate and direct procurement, investment activities, and annual financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards.
- Producing dashboards which properly reflect the company’s financial position, cashflow, profitability etc.
- Establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, and biweekly, monthly, and annual financial reporting. (KPI’s)
- Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Improve Accounts Receivable, Payables and Purchase Order accuracy and enforce standard operating procedures.
- Increase payroll efficiency through innovative process development and streamlining of current processes.
- Maintain internal safeguards for expense report management, documentations, reconciliation and reimbursement.
Relationship Mgt, Systems Upkeep and Process Administration
- Work with other executive decision-makers to minimize risk and identify growth opportunities.
- Generate actionable insights from technical and financial data.
- Manage and act as the liaison to the organization’s CPA, financial partners (Banks, lenders etc.), and other external financial impacting stakeholders
Supervising, Systems Utilization and Reviewing Accounting Practices:
- Supervise accounting team ensure accuracy, and all work meets applicable compliance standards.
- Analyzing workflow processes and documentation of procedures. Auditing and updating as needed.
- Maintenance of functional SOPs and records in accordance with company standards.
- Oversee and determine internal audit practices, annual tax management/record keeping.
- Leverage technology and make recommendations for improvement of manual administrative duties.
- Advanced computer skills and experience with widely used technologies within accounting and finance.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field. (MBA a Plus)
- Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
- Understanding and application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting.
- Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant)
- Proven work experience in accounting and industry related fields.
- Understanding of economic principles, financial markets, and banking.
- Working knowledge of the Securities and Exchange Commission reporting standards a plus.
- Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items, to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.
