We’re seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Corporate Controller to lead our accounting operations and financial reporting functions from our Denver, CO office. - Lead the charge in strengthening SPL’s financial operations and internal controls;
- Work side-by-side with the CFO and executive team to guide strategic decision-making;
- Mentor and develop a talented accounting team while optimizing financial processes across the company;
- Take ownership of financial accuracy, compliance, and performance — where your impact is clear and measurable.
- Lead and oversee all corporate accounting operations, including general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliations, tax compliance, payroll, and treasury functions;
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and all applicable regulations;
- Recruit, develop, and lead accounting personnel through effective coaching, performance management, and professional development to build a high-performing team;
- Direct accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong internal controls;
- Manage month-end and year-end close procedures, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analyses;
- Coordinate and lead external financial and tax audits, ensuring readiness, accuracy, and full compliance;
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control policies, procedures, and systems to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity;
- Partner with the finance team to provide financial analysis and reporting that supports executive decision-making, including forecasting, budgeting, and key performance indicators (KPIs);
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance ERP systems and streamline financial processes;
- Support strategic business initiatives such as acquisitions, integrations, and other corporate projects requiring financial expertise; Ensure compliance with corporate policies, accounting standards, and all regulatory requirements;
- Lead special projects and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations and reporting;
- Serve as a mentor and role model, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional excellence across the organization;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Accounting) preferred;
- CPA or CMA designation a plus;
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience in supervisory or leadership roles;
- Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting standards, including ASC 842, ASC 606, and ASC 805;
- Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams;
- Experience in Private Equity (PE)-owned and multi-entity or multi-location environments;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems such as NetSuite and Stampli;
- Strong understanding of invoicing, collections, inventory, and operational accounting processes;
- Excellent communication skills with executive presence and the ability to influence across teams;
- High ethical standards, sound judgment, and integrity in managing financial data;
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities, with a track record of managing multiple priorities and delivering results;
- Industry experience in oilfield services, energy, laboratory, or industrial operations preferred.
