Contract Management & Supplier Relations Manager - Surrey

BC Hydro relies on its fleet of over 3,000 vehicles and wheeled equipment to provide reliable service to British Columbians
across the province. BC Hydro’s Fleet Services team is looking for a strategic, results-oriented Contract & Supplier
Relations Manager to develop and enhance existing supplier relationships and contract management practices, and
maximize BC Hydro’s value from existing and future fleet contracts. The successful candidate will provide ongoing
management of BC Hydro’s strategic fleet contracts, and work collaboratively with colleagues in Fleet, Supply Chain and
client departments to develop, implement and sustain fleet category strategies that meet BC Hydro’s complete fleet needs.
In this role you also will identify and manage contract risks; work with suppliers to continuously improve fleet business
processes; and develop and implement Fleet contract management policies, practices, and tools.
Key areas of focus include:
- Overall accountability for the management of BC Hydro’s strategic fleet supply & services-related contracts and leadership
within the Fleet team in the delivery of supplier management initiatives. The portfolio of contracts includes: the supply and
upfitting of heavy/medium/light duty vehicles and equipment (trailers, forklifts); fleet maintenance and management
services; fuel supply; fuel card services; heavy vehicle leasing; insurance brokerage services; new vehicle technologies.
- Leadership in the development of contract management strategies and programs aimed at driving cost savings, improved
- The development, implementation and maintenance of the Fleet programs that oversee the implementation of the tools,
processes and competencies needed to realize optimum value from Fleet supply contracts. Ensure best practices, lessons
learned, and new technologies are continuously incorporated.
- The development of tools and metrics to monitor and measure key stages in the contract management process including
vendor performance, contractual compliance, and vendor
feedback on contract management and administration processes.
- Ensure alignment of the Fleet program with evolving client needs; with BC Hydro supply chain standards affecting all
aspects of supplier interaction, contract management and administration; and with BC Hydro’s overall policies.
- Mentors other Supply Chain and Fleet Services and Materials Management staff as required.
- As part of the team, contributes to improvement initiatives related to BC Hydro’s new Supply Chain model.
- University degree, preferably with a Supply Chain Management or Business Administration focus. A Masters in Business
Administration and or additional formal education in project management is preferred.
- 8-10+ years of supply chain and/or contract management experience within a public and/or private sector setting,
including at least 5 years managing strategic contracts.
- Experience working in relevant industry; in an environment that is complex, with multiple stakeholders and strategic
considerations. Prefer balance of private and public sector experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing change initiatives and improving business processes in a complex organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contract management best practices and emerging trends.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Supplier Relationship Management and the role SRM plays in supplier engagement and
- Demonstrated proficiency in contract development and a strong working knowledge of contract law.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and with internal clients, including
- Strong interpersonal, communication, persuasive influence, and negotiation skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to drive results through effective contract management practices.
- Experience with ERP Systems such as Passport and SAP is preferred
